Ferryboat like Hatsushima Island

Fujikyu Group decided to completely renovate the hull of the 1980s ship between Hatsushima Island and Atami. We wanted to make the inhabited remote island near Tokyo more appealing to visitors and increase the number of passengers. We held extensive discussions with the Fujikyu Group and boarded the ship multiple times to interview passengers face-to-face. We compiled a design and basic plan based on their diverse needs.

While the previous ship had a uniform interior that prioritised transport capacity, we designed 10 new seating types to accommodate a wide range of guests, from individuals to groups. These seating types accommodate a variety of activities, including conversation, eating and drinking, relaxation, sleep, and games. Although it is only a 30-minute journey, we have installed a new shop and mini-bar offering beverages and other items.

We also handled the entire project, from considering and conceiving the ship's name to the graphics of the hull and logo types.
