A green park floating on the lake

芦ノ湖に浮かぶ公園という船

Hakone is one of the oldest tourist destinations in Japan. The Lake Ashinoko Pleasure Boat service, which was operated by the Izu-Hakone Railway Group, was transferred to the Fujikyu Group in 2023.
Since the Fujikyu Group's first foray into Hakone, the project has begun to significantly remodel the 40-year-old ship. Our work starts from concept formulation, and basic design including floor plans and furniture, and graphics such as logos as total.
We wanted to provide excitement to our customers with Fujikyu's unique challenges, so we decided to turn the entire ship into a park. The deck is filled with soil and covered with grass and is equipped with swing-like benches to enhance the freedom of movement around the ship and deck. Since the ship sails on the route closest to Hakone Shrine, Japanese lucky charms are placed on the body as accents.

箱根は我が国で最も古い観光地の一つで、かつては大手私鉄グループが競い合って交通手段や宿泊施設を開発し「箱根戦争」とも呼称された時期もあったそうです。かつて伊豆箱根鉄道グループが運航していた芦ノ湖の遊覧船事業は、2023年に富士急行グループ・箱根遊船株式会社に経営移管されました。

富士急行グループにとって初めての箱根進出であり、建造から40年が経過した船体を大幅に改造するプロジェクトが始まりました。コンセプト策定、平面プランや家具を含む基本デザイン、ロゴなどグラフィックまでトータルに当社が出掛けました。

富士急らしい挑戦でお客様に感動を提供したい、と考え、船まるごと公園にすることにしました。デッキには土を入れて芝生を敷き詰めて、ブランコふうベンチを備え、船内・デッキを自由の回遊性を高めました。箱根神社に最も近い航路を航行することから、和の縁起物をアクセントに配置しています。
